Physics and Chemistry Materials

The study of physics and chemistry materials has evolved during the last 100 years due to the incessant research and investigation of scientists all over the world. Physicists and chemists have been working side by side in order to discover the origins of numerous types of materials, and have been capable of publishing reports with their findings. Many of these discoveries have to do with the solid state of physics and chemistry materials and their main structure, which can also be studied at the molecular scale (known as nanoscale). This has come to impact the world we know today because physics and chemistry materials are considerably important for modern technology and science in general.

Applying the Theory

For many years, scientists have been making new discoveries that involve physics and chemistry materials, but such discoveries were not entirely valid unless they were applied to practical methods. This means that the theories that have been proposed by physicists and chemists all around the world have to be proven right or wrong before being applied to a specific activity. For example, a group of scientists had discovered that there were hidden forces involved with molecules that made up matter, but in order to prove such a theory, they had to observe the molecules at a microscopic level and record the findings. This same type of application has been done with numerous theories that are related to physics and chemistry materials. Moreover, applying these theories help scientists determine the relationship there is between molecules and atoms.

Organic Physics & Chemistry Materials

It’s no secret that researchers and scientists have spent years and years experimenting with the different types of molecules and atoms, trying to find new associations among them. Nowadays, it’s quite possible to even replicate the structure of atoms in order to create synthetic physics and chemistry materials, especially those that include solids (bonding of isolated atoms). Furthermore, with the increase in the demand for organic products, there has been an aggressive discovery and production of organic materials just like PET (polyethylene terephthalate) which can be used in the following:

  • Soft drinks bottles
  • Food packaging
  • Certain equipment used in outer space
  • Tapes (adhesive or magnetic)
  • Thermal insulation

Properties of Physics & Chemistry

When it comes to physics and chemistry materials, there’s the possibility to find numerous categories of sub-materials, such as those that are composite. In general, their characteristics can vary depending on the structure of the molecules and on the state of the substance that is being experimented with. For example, as mentioned before, the PET material is used to package frozen dinners because one of its properties is to resistextremely low temperatures. Moreover, additional properties of some composite physics and chemistry materials are:

  • Thermal insulation
  • Stiffness
  • Shock resistance
  • Heat resistance
  • UV ray protection

The properties that will emerge depend mostly on the different physics and chemistry materials that are being mixed or composed together. Only with further investigation and research in both, the physics and chemistry field, will we find additional properties that can be useful when producing new materials.
